Just Two Minutes: Introductions

Bite-sized dental wisdom in under 2 minutes.

The second someone learns your name, what’s the next thing they ask?

“So… what do you do?”

And every time, I hesitate.

Because what I want to say is:
“I’m an entrepreneur.”
“I run multiple businesses.”
“I co-host a podcast, write a newsletter, and raise three kids.”
“Oh, and I used to be a dentist.”

But what actually comes out?

“I’m a dentist.”

Even though I haven’t practiced clinical dentistry in years.

It’s not a lie. It’s just… the fastest way to explain myself without getting into it.
It’s the title people understand. It’s the one I spent years earning.
It feels safe - even if it’s no longer true.

But that’s the problem.

When your identity is tied to your job, your title, your business card - you’re building your worth on something fragile.

And the second it shifts?
You start questioning everything.

I heard Alex Hormozi say this once:

“I had to untie my value from money.
Because if my worth is tied to money, then what happens when I lose it?”

Same goes for your career.
What happens when you step away?
Or sell the practice?
Or shift into something new?

Does your value disappear?

No.
Because you’re not valuable because you’re a dentist.
You’re valuable because of who you are, what you’ve built, and the way you show up - even when the title changes.

So sure, you can call yourself whatever you want.
But just know:
Dentist is something you do.
It’s not who you are.

And the sooner you stop clinging to the title,
The sooner you get to build something even bigger.

P.S. If you lose the title and don’t know who you are… it might be time to find out.
